DISEASE UPDATEIt has been confirmed (16/7/2010) that AFB has been detected in West Lothian, in colonies belonging to a commercial beekeeper. The Scottish Goverment statement on this development can be viewed hereAlthough I have had no news this year of AFB/EFB in the Aberdeen area please continue to be vigilant. Check your bees carefully. If you are in the least bit suspicious contact Kirsty Sutherland, our local Bee Officer, on 01467 626222 AFB and EFB are notifiable diseases. By law, they must be reported to the local Bee Officer. Please check this website and/or the SBA website 'Diseases Section' for up-to-date information.
